Cardamom Whipped Cream (No Refined Sugar)
At the launch party for Lumen Ranch this past weekend (mini vlog here), there was a cardamom cream served with the cake, and it was the best flavor combination. The caterer mentioned hers was made with only two ingredients, one of them cardamom, and it was sweet but still very light. I knew immediately my kids would love it (we usually make the version I shared in this post here).
When we got home, I put my own spin on the recipe, and it turned out perfectly, full of cozy fall spice. The kids have been loving it on their protein waffles, and I’ve been adding a spoonful to my morning fall spice latte.
Why make it yourself
Most store-bought whipped creams, even the ones labeled “natural,” contain carrageenan, gums, and other stabilizers to extend shelf life. These additives can cause digestive irritation and inflammation for some people. Making it at home takes just a few minutes, gives you a cleaner, richer flavor, and lets you know exactly what’s in the ingredients.
My kids are big whipped cream fans, and I love knowing they can enjoy it without the added fillers or refined sugar found in most store-bought versions. It also doesn’t take long to make. All you need is a hand or stand mixer with the whisk attachment and the ingredients below:
