Mon-Fri Seasonal Recipes + Grocery Shopping List #13
If you’re new here, every week I share five cozy, home-cooked dinners made with real ingredients and simple prep that I’m planning to make for my family. I usually send out these meal plans every Friday so I can have my shopping list ready for the farmer’s market the next day. These are meals that are usually around 30 min prep time and reheat beautifully the next day, with plenty for leftovers. Each recipe uses in-season produce so you can pick up most of the ingredients at your local farmers market. You’ll find a grocery list at the bottom organized by type to make shopping easy. The meals focus on high-quality beef, lamb, chicken, and salmon. I don’t include pork since it tends to carry more parasites, and I prefer to keep our protein sources as clean as possible.
The hamburgers with sourdough buns and beef tallow fries are Friday’s recipe this week. It includes a timing plan so your buns come out of the oven right as the burgers are ready, plus a simple guide to starting your own sourdough starter if you don’t have one yet. Once your starter is going, sourdough baking is easy and so rewarding. It feels amazing to feed your family real bread made with just four ingredients, and these sourdough buns are so flavorful and make the burgers that much better.
My kids caught a stomach bug on Monday and were finally starting to feel better by Tuesday evening. While I was taking my Pique Vitamin C and hoping to stay healthy, they didn’t have much of an appetite. (Happy to say neither Anthony nor I ended up catching it… all the immune support must have helped!) I wanted them to have something simple, salty, and nourishing to help with electrolytes, and the chicken and rice soup ended up being just right. The broth was rich and flavorful; they both drank it straight from their bowls, and it made for excellent leftovers the next day. We’re actually planning to make it again this week because it was that good!
A subscriber in the chat suggested I start sharing some of the recipes I’ll be using for Thanksgiving to get in the festive spirit, along with a few nourishing desserts, so that’s coming soon for those of you who’ve joined the In The Making community.
It’s also where I share my personal posts… the ones that feel a bit more at home here than on social media… along with the meal plans and grocery lists from our kitchen.
